Beyond the Numbers: Finding Calm When Anxiety Knocks

That feeling. The heart starts to race, your breathing becomes shallow, your thoughts spin, and it feels like the walls are closing in. If you have ever experienced anxiety or panic, you know it’s more than just “feeling stressed.” It’s physical, it’s overwhelming, and it can make you feel so alone.

As a hypnotherapist and someone who’s been there, I want to share a tiny but mighty tool you can use right now: **The 4-7-8 Breath. **

  • Inhale quietly through your nose for 4 counts.
  • Hold your breath for 7 counts.
  • Exhale completely through your mouth for 8 counts.

Repeat 3-4 times. This simple act tells your nervous system, “Hey, we are safe.” It’s a small first step in taking your power back.

Did you try the 4-7-8 breath? How did it feel? Share your experience with our community.
